Hi, guys. Tell us more about Tony Holt Design

Tony Holt Design was formed in 2011 as an architectural design practice offering services exclusively to homeowners and self builders across the UK.

We are a small enthusiastic team who love to deliver innovative solutions and create special places for our clients to live.

We believe good design should be available to everyone, regardless of project size, budget or location.With more and more people looking to build their dream home, we think it's important for people to be encouraged to reach for something unique and special.

What services do you offer your clients, and how do you do it?

We offer a full range of architectural design services, including extensions, remodelling existing properties and new builds.

This includes initial concept design, planning permission, building regulations and working drawings.We also offer extended design services such as landscaping and interior design which helps extend our involvement an enable us to support clients throughout their journey.

Give us an example of one of your greatest achievements

As a practice we took on a paragraph 79 (formerly paragraph 59) which was for a new private residential dwelling within the greenbelt.

New development within the greenbelt is heavily resisted and there are only two exceptions that planning would be granted, either through innovative or exceptional design which is judged by a panel of experts (architects, landscape architects etc) rather than the Local Authority like usual planning applications.

Our design met the criteria of 'exceptional design' and is currently under construction.

We have currently worked with clients on more than 500 projects, covering 44 counties throughout the UK and recently completed a design for a luxury new build in Boston, USA.

Why did you choose Bourne Space?

In 2020 we were moving from a shared office with two other companies and were looking for an office which retained socialising with other businesses…being attached to a pub was also a strong selling point!

What is the most important feature of Bourne Space for your company?

The location being in the centre of Bournemouth (and Urban Garden) along with the flexibility to come and go 24/7 and of course being able to bring Hendrix the dog into the office (even if he does get over excited to see everyone)!

What’s next for your business?

The last couple years have been challenging for us, as for all, but it has allowed us to adapt and improve our design services to more clients not just across the UK but worldwide.

We started a remote design services during the pandemic to reach more potential clients that were looking for somebody to push the boundaries and we successfully achieved planning in Boston, USA, which is now currently under construction.

We are looking forward to site visit in the coming years and hopefully new projects overseas…. and we also looking forward to the milk frother that Natalie Bullen of Bourne Space has promised us!
