Meet the Members: Platinum Property Partners
Bourne Space is home to a whole host of brilliant businesses and each month we’ll be introducing you to them.
Next up, it’s Platinum Property Partners and Divisional Director Emma Hayes. Platinum are long-standing members of Bourne Space, having been based in Bourne House, Bourne Park and now Bourne Villa…
Hi, Emma. Tell us more about Platinum
We’re a property investment franchise that coaches, mentors and supports people who want to invest in high-quality shared living properties, or HMOs as they’re more commonly known.
These properties are more lucrative than standard buy-to-lets, but also far more complicated, so people who join the franchise get our support and expertise at every stage as they build and grow their own property businesses.
Our aim is to help people become financially independent through property investment and by making their money work harder for them.
That way they can step back from work and do the things they want to do, rather than being tied to the corporate machine.
So, essentially, we’re a lifestyle business as well as a franchise.
What services do you offer your clients, and how do you do it?
We’re a franchise in that our Franchise Partners follow our tried and tested model to build their property businesses.
But our business is in training and mentoring, so we hand-hold our Franchise Partners at every stage – from guiding them as they search for properties to buy and renovate into HMOs, to making sure they’re legally compliant and helping them to find suitable housemates.
We also support them with things like business structure, taxation and insurance, and work with lots and lots of partner businesses who offer huge savings for our network.
Give us an example of one of your greatest achievements
The last 18 months for sure. The property market was shut down at the beginning of lockdown last year and thanks to the team and the incredible resilience of the model we managed to get all our Partners safely through the pandemic without suffering great financial losses; our occupancy levels are back up in the 90% region, and our recent British Franchise Satisfaction survey awarded us 5* based on our client feedback. Not too bad for such an extraordinary year!
How long have you been a member of Bourne Space?
We’ve been part of Bourne Space since the very beginning. Originally, we were based in Bourne House, then we moved over to Bourne Villa, then Bourne Park, then back to Bourne Villa – which is where we are now!
We’ve also had the flexibility to move depending on the needs of our business but also Bourne Space, which is our sister company.
Why did you choose Bourne Space?
As well as being a sister company of Bourne Space, we love the flexibility that being a member offers our business.
Bourne Villa offers us the casual co-work area at the front of the building, which is also great for less formal meetings with our Franchise Partners and other companies we work with.
Our office is a great space, too, and really open, relaxed and collaborative, which works really well for our team.
What is the most important feature of Bourne Space for your company?
The freedom to move around and utilise all the different spaces on offer at Bourne Villa works really well for us as a team.
Sitting at the same desk for seven or eight hours a day isn’t healthy, so we encourage our team to use the break-out areas and switch-up where they choose to work.
Bourne Space offers that flexibility, and we love it!
And, of course, it goes without saying that the team on reception are an absolute joy to work with and brighten everyone’s day! From setting up the event space to being there for anything else we need, the support from the Bourne staff is essential to our success.
Tell us how the community at Bourne Space has allowed you to collaborate and/or network with other Bourne Space members.
We’ve got a really close relationship with the Bourne Space team as we’re all a massive family.
We’ve also struck up really good relationships with other Bourne Space members and have worked with several on different projects, particularly within marketing our franchise.
What’s next for Platinum?
We’re currently in the R&D phase for a couple of new products we’ll be rolling out this year alongside our main franchise.
The pandemic has been a real test, but we’ve adapted and grown as a team and as a business, so we’re looking to really accelerate that as we move into the latter part of 2021.
It’s a hugely exciting time to be in the business and we’re looking forward to what’s ahead.
